Dr. BE connects well with people who you might not traditionally associate with counseling services to guide them through their struggles and life challenges. That drive to "have it all" that so many professionals demonstrate can also make it hard to ask for help at times when it's needed most. With both a unique "no BS" attitude and a demeanor that's connectable, Dr. BE has become a valuable asset for clients who typically didn't expect to find therapy beneficial. View 3 Photos Dr. BE's specialties, training, and certifications include: Trainer for Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior, Psychologist in Hospice Care, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder Clinical Team, Depression Treatment Group, Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Depression, Integrative Behavioral Couples Therapy While his résumé is extensive, Daniel’s therapeutic style and ability to connect with people who don’t typically see themselves as needing therapy is what makes him such a valued asset to his clients at BEing There Counseling. We invite you to request a consultation with Daniel to discuss your needs and how he can help.

People are complex and life is complicated - sometimes we can manage alone and sometimes we need additional support. I'm here for those times that lean towards support. You may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or even bored with your current situation. You may have an urgent concern and insufficient tools to deal with it. Or, you might not be quite so sure what the problem is exactly, but know something isn't right in your core or spirit. You are probably seeking to change your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, or beliefs in some meaningful way. By being here and looking for a therapist in the first place, you're taking a brave first step. I believe that my clients are experts on their own lives - my job is to provide a framework and support for you to uncover your own unique solutions. My guiding philosophies are person-centered, existential, and transpersonal/mindfulness-based. I am also a CRC with a special interest in the intersection of disability, career, and mental health. I recognize that reaching out to a counselor can be intimidating. I strive to make all humans feel seen, respected, and safe. I am happy to meet prospective clients for free and non-committing phone consultations. Please note that I am unable to see current students, families, and faculty/staff of University of Colorado - Boulder at this time.

Now offering Telehealth and Coaching! My name is Don Self and I have 25+ years of experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor. Though my formative years as a counselor have been spent working with children and teenagers, I work with adults and couples. I started my agency, Temenos Counseling Services, to emphasize my philosophy that counseling should be a safe place to heal. As a counselor, I focus on helping clients heal from their individual traumas, develop their lives, and plan for their futures. I work with my clients to develop goals that lead to more meaningful and fulfilling lives. In addition to trauma treatment, I have added Life Coaching and Integrated Mental Health for a whole person perspective. I use a variety of techniques that include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Progressive Counting. Life Coaching adds a goal and future perspective. Integrated Mental Health adds physical and nutritional aspects. Years ago, a friend of mine introduced me to the concept of "Temenos". Temenos is a Greek word that has come to mean "a safe place" or a place where warriors can take off their armor, lay down their weapons, and find peace. I believe that counseling is Temenos.
